Privacy Policy

The terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Vantageonlinestore.com, LLC  and its affiliated companies (“Vantage”). WriteAhead  is an online service offered by Vantage. “You” and “your” refer to the individual and/or entity that has ordered a Vantage product or technical services. “Product services” refers to any web-based service application accessed by you via the internet. “Technical services” refers to support, consulting, or other services including customizations you have ordered (if any apply). 

Vantage values your privacy. This privacy policy describes what information we collect, how it is processed, stored and used. This privacy policy accompanies and is incorporated into the Terms and Conditions of the WriteAhead service.  

Use of this service requires Vantage to collect information that can identify you, sometimes referred to as Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and basic personal data.  Use of the service also allows Vantage to collect information that is not PII and cannot be connected back to you.   Upon opening an account, you, the User, voluntarily provide personal data including your name, username, email address, payment information and any other information you enter when establishing an account.  The information provided enables Vantage to establish a user account, allow access to the service and fulfill your transaction request. 

Once your account is established and you begin using the services, we collect all information and content you enter or upload into the service.  Vantage also receives information regarding your location through the use of your Internet Protocol address (IP).  Your device sends geographical location information to us.  Our programs and services automatically collect information when you use our software including IP address, date and time of access, browser settings and configuration, device information and cookie information. 

Vantage uses all information provided and obtained for the express purpose of providing you the WriteAhead  services in a secure, personalized transaction. The information is used, processed and stored for this purpose.  Vantage may also use the information for research and development of the product services.  All collected information is processed and stored in the United States of America. 

The User information provided allows Vantage to communicate with you regarding your account, products, services, updates, technical support, marketing of Vantage products and services, to provide the requested services. The information collected allows Vantage to evaluate the effectiveness, traffic and security of the software services. 

The submitted information may also be used for legitimate legal purposes including investigation or prevention of fraud, threats or safeguarding the security of our system. 

Vantage does not collect any personal information from persons under the age of thirteen (13).  If any such information is identified, it will be removed from our system. 

Vantage does not share, sell or otherwise disclose your information to any third parties. Information provided may be used internally to improve our products, track usage and other like internal activities. 

At times, Vantage uses or compiles raw non-specific user data only for research studies and quality control purposes. If information is compiled or collected for such purposes, users are not personally identifiable- their identities are completely anonymous and never subject to release or publication. By doing so, Vantage complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), 20 USC §1232g, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, 45 CFR Part 160.103, the Gramm-Leach-Bailey Financial Modernization Act of 1999, 15 USC §6809; and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards. 

As to COPPA or any state law which requires consent or authorization from a parent or guardian for the collection or use of information concerning a student, the school, school district or the educator, is responsible and liable for fulfilling any applicable consent requirement.

Special Information Regarding California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Vantage neither owns nor ultimately exercises direct control over any student information provided by a school or educator. The information provided is used simply and exclusively to ensure that your child can view the WriteAhead feedback. All information provided to Vantage always remains confidential. Vantage does not use, transmit or disseminate any student information for any other purpose than to effectuate and fulfill its responsibilities and obligations to your child’s school, school district or other educational institution or program (“school”). Vantage neither requests, culls or collects any additional information about any student that is not directly provided by a child’s school or included within a school’s request of Vantage (as part of a program).

A school/district or educator bears exclusive responsibility for and is deemed to exercise ultimate policy and decision-making authority over any and all aspects or associated undertakings of its use of WriteAhead. No personal information is collected directly from a student.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on a user’s computer and tied to information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while using WriteAhead. WriteAhead uses session ID cookies to speed and enhance a user’s navigation within the platform. Once a user closes the browser, the cookie automatically terminates. 

Like most standard Internet website servers, Vantage uses log files that identify a user’s Internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. None of this information is ever linked to personally identifiable student information. 

Vantage never sells, shares, rents or distributes information provided to anyone other than an authority legally entitled to review such information. Under certain circumstances, Vantage may be directed to disclose personally identifiable information when required by law based upon a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with an appropriate law enforcement investigation, current judicial proceeding, court order or legal process served on the WriteAhead /WriteAhead website. 

 Vantage takes every precaution to protect user information. Information is protected both online and offline. Any information provided to Vantage is restricted to Vantage’s offices, employees and contractors. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (customer service, help desk, and technical personnel) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, all employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. From time to time, as new policies are added or existing policies are modified, employees will be notified and/or reminded about the importance Vantage places on privacy and how they can ensure that information is protected. In addition, all computer Internet servers on which Vantage stores information are kept in a secure environment, behind locked and encrypted databases. 

SITE AND SERVICES UPDATES

Vantage sends Website and service announcement updates to its users by e-mail. However, these communications are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive these updates, you may click on the unsubscribe link located on the bottom of the e-mail. If you have additional questions, please e-mail MarketingGroup@vantagelearning.com. On occasion, Vantage invites users to voluntarily submit further written works and/or receive feedback on their written work from the Website. Vantage communicates with users to provide requested services regarding their account via e-mail or phone. 

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy may change from time to time. If it does, modifications will be indicated on the home page to ensure that users are aware of any such changes. If at any point Vantage modifies its policies for using personally identifiable information as detailed and outlined at the time a particular user first gained access to use WriteAhead, Vantage will notify that user prior to the change becoming effective by sending an explanatory e-mail, provided the user has not opted out of all communication with the site or deleted/deactivated their user account. 

SPECIAL NOTES ON YOUR RIGHT TO CORRECT AND DELETE ACCOUNT

You have the right to discontinue use of WriteAhead and delete your account. You have the right to request that your record or information be corrected or not be maintained in any retrievable form. Requests to cancel, modify or delete any and all of your information should be made through MarketingGroup@vantagelearning.com
